For all the years our children are with us, we will need to help them wrestle with weaknesses that could lead to their exploitation. Consider each of your children, and how they might be captured by someone with ill intent because that person identified one of their vulnerabilities. Here is a list of possible vulnerabilities to choose from:

  • Attracted to flattery
  • Focused on appearance
  • Looking for attention
  • Extreme interest in nice cars
  • Craves physical affection
  • In need of friends
  • Engages with others easily
  • Not involved in school activities
  • Over-anxious to succeed
  • Needs someone to listen
  • Preoccupied with opposite sex
  • Minnesota Nice syndrome
  • Open and adventurous
  • Wants to “prove” maturity
  • Thinks everyone is basically good
  • Identifies strongly with media portraits

You may know vulnerabilities that are not listed. Of course, you may use them. The point is to have a realistic view of the ways certain children can be “taken”.
